Royal Caribbean wasn't the first cruise line to go the double-decker route when designing over-the-top cruise ship suites. A decade before the debut of Quantum of the Seas, Cunard Line wowed cruise fans with the unveiling of this two-deck-high Grand Duplex suite and a sister suite, the Sandringham, on its iconic Queen Mary 2. The Regent Suite also has a ridiculously large master bathroom, complete with its own sauna and steam room. It's big enough that it can double as a personal spa treatment room. To that end, the Regent Suite — get this — comes with its own spa therapist on call. Unlimited spa treatments are included in the cost of the suite.

Most balcony cruise ship cabins feature floor-ceiling sliding glass doors leading to a private step-out veranda. The balcony also is furnished with a table and pair of chairs/loungers. As sizes, balcony cabins on cruise ships vary, with those on Princess and NCl ships being among the smallest compared to other big-ship lines.

Forward- and Aft-Facing Balconies

Combining indoor and outdoor spaces, the Three-Bedroom Garden Villa offers a whopping 6,700 square feet of living space. The largest is the Premier Owner's Suite which spans over 2,900 square feet including a vast wraparound balcony with lounging areas, a full-sized outdoor dining table, and a private hot tub. Inside cruise ship cabins' best feature is their price - you book them with the line's cheapest rates available. Still, on some of the newest cruise ships of Royal Caribbean and Disney, there are categories Interior staterooms with a "virtual window", which is a large LED screen displaying outside cam views. They are usually larger in comparison to balcony staterooms and feature more amenities. As a rule, suites have a full-size bathtub, larger shower, bigger closets and balcony (some have 2 private balconies). Amenities include coffee makers, premium sound systems, large-size TVs, complimentary butler service.

For starters, you’ll enjoy endless views that rival the Captain’s, as your suite is directly above the shio's navigation bridge. With this in mind, cruise lines have been introducing larger and more elaborate suites on every new ship they launch. Of course, all suites are gorgeous on every ship and we haven’t seen one we didn’t like, but here are a few that made our favorites list.

Noise issues - which cabins on the ship to avoid?

Throughout the ship, enjoy complimentary drinks, Wi-Fi, and room service. A butler will take care of your every whim (well, within reason). The location of the suite on Deck 14 is stunning, with 270-degree views over the bow. Throughout the two-bedroom suite, you'll find high-end touches in marble and exotic wood, limited-edition art books, Murano glass, and other handcrafted elements. The lounge features beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and a custom $250,000 Steinway Arabesque piano.

Alternatively, you might not want to hear any music or partying, which can mean a cabin that's farther away from the ship's liveliest areas. The best room location on any cruise ship can vary from person to person. Some standard cruise ship cabins can only sleep two, but many can sleep three, four or five passengers. Extra berths are either pullout sofas, bunkbeds that pull down from the wall or drop from the ceiling or rollaway cots. In addition, special family cabins or multi-room suites intended for large groups traveling together can have multiple bedrooms and sleep six or more passengers.

The living and dining space is found on level one with plenty of space to relax and enjoy meals at an elegant dining table for 8, and there’s a wet bar stocked with water and sodas.
